Bullard plays down Wigan link

Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard has revealed that he is in talks with Fulham over a new contract. Bullard, who has two years remaining on his current deal, has spoken of his admiration of Wigan, who recently launched a bid for him, but he is keen to extend his stay at Craven Cottage.

Bullard said:

“It’s nice to hear that Wigan would want me back - it shows I’m well thought of, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it. Wigan is a great club and have got a great manager.

“But my gaffer hasn’t said anything to me about it.

“I got a call from a mate when I was on our tour of Korea saying there was something in the papers about me coming back to Wigan, but I know nothing about it.

The midfielder also spoke about new contract negotiations with Fulham:

“I’m in talks at the moment about a new contract. I’ve got two years to run on my deal and we just thought it was the right time to try and sit down and get a new one sorted.

“Hopefully it will all be sorted out soon.”

I’m glad that Bullard himself has come out and issued a statement to stop the rumours. He is a good player and had an integral role in keeping the club up last season.

With the new arrivals and retention of Jimmy Bullard, we could see good things at Fulham this season.
